PredEx stands for 'Prediction of (COPD) Exacerbations'. It is a retrospective clinical test that the University of Twente will conduct with three Dutch hospitals (OLVG, MST, ZGT), where the breathing-pattern data of volunteering patients are collected. The test takes place from October 2024 to April 2025, and when the test is completed the breathing-pattern data will be comparded to the occurences of the use of prednison and/or antibiotics, and the admittence or discharge from hospital. The results of the test might be helpfull in guiding future research on the prediction of COPD exacerbations. 

The breathing-pattern data will be collected by means of a small research device that patients use at home. The device communicates via the PredEx-app made by DOOP Business Solutions.
